About

Me at the Me Awards
I am a veteran bio-writer and I know what bio-readers want, so I’ve organized my bio page into easy to read sections.

Section 1: Short and Simple
Chris Trew performs comedy and lives in Austin.

Section 2: Medium and More Interesting
Chris Trew is an Austin-based performer who does live improv, sketch and stand-up comedy as well as several film and music projects with Studio8.net in Los Angeles. He also operates the ColdTowne Theater.

Section 3: Sort of Long but Specificity kills Ambiguity
Chris Trew is an improv, stand-up and sketch comedian based out of Austin, Tx. He’s performed in almost every major comedy festival in North America and has opened for MC Chris, Comedy Central Presents, headlined the Michael Showalter/Michael Ian Black after-party and has been featured in the New York Times for his work as Terp 2 it. He splits his time between Austin and Los Angeles where he writes and performs sketch comedy with Studio8.net, who have been featured on almost every viral video site online. He is a founding member and Executive Producer of the ColdTowne Theater in Austin, Tx where he performs in dozens of shows a month.

Section 4: The Ultimate Arguably Long-Winded Bio
Chris Trew was born in New Orleans, Louisiana when he was born. In high school he made a website posting a list of people who didn’t like him and he got expelled. His family fought it so he could attend college at LSU. He did his best to balance his need for attention and his parents need for him to get good grades. The more Trew loaded on his plate, the more the power shifted - sketch comedy, numerous publicity stunts, a satirical newspaper, several terrible-sounding albums, and the creation of comedy group Studio8.net meant no time for studies. His family fought that, too, but they lost and Chris dropped out to pursue Comedy full-time. He wrote and starred in the award-winning mockumentary Everything is Everything and then moved back to New Orleans to get involved with film. Instead, he got involved with improv theater and stand-up. Trew took classes at the Comedy Conservatory and fell in love - eventually joining a student team and Comedy Sportz. Soon Chris was auditioning for films instead of working for them. Then Chris discovered that Improv Olympic was having a summer intensive so he told work goodbye, told his mustang car goodbye, and told most of his friends goodbye to go learn improv in Chicago. Hurricane Katrina nailed New Orleans two weeks after Chris’ return to the city. Eager to apply his new love for improv, Chris considered a move to Chicago. He considered a move to Los Angeles with the rest of his immediate comedy family, Studio8.net. He considered staying with family family in New Orleans. Before the buzzer sounded, Trew decided to give Austin a try with his new and improved improv group ColdTowne, which was the more dedicated halves of two student teams in New Orleans. What they didn’t know was that Austin was having an improv festival that weekend. They ended up having the performance of their lives and decided to stay in central Texas for a little while. Within a month, offers starting pouring in - a festival in Tucson, a weekend of their sketch show “Hurricanes Are Funny” in Dallas, a regular spot in the rotation at Austin’s Hideout Theater. ColdTowne went on to perform in festivals across the continent - Phoenix, Chicago, Washington D.C., Toronto, New York City, Chapel Hill, and more. Chris was also invited to perform improv and stand-up in Portland, Los Angeles, and Baton Rouge. Now Chris works comfortably in Austin, putting in time on his debut solo rap album Terp 2 it: The Freshest Dude (due early 2007), as well as filming for his solo project The Terp Show, and shopping his screenplay Best Men to rich people. Chris also teaches improv and freestyle rap workshops, coaches rehearsals, wins sketch comedy writing contests, and directs music videos.

Chris currently performs improv and sketch with ColdTowne (Austin Chronicle’s “Best Improv Group” 2006, “Best Comedy Group” 2007), the duo one a.m., cage match record-setters Aw Shit, and hosts the monthly variety show Thursday Night Awesome. He writes way more stand-up comedy than he has time to perform and is currently working on several sketch comedy projects. Chris is an instructor at the ColdTowne Conservatory and is a manager, director, producer, and performer at The ColdTowne Theater (4803 Airport Blvd, next to I Luv Video).

  2. Chris Trew, you fuck, you made fun of me my freshman year at LSU.
As I made my way from the Union across the quad to the confines of my Pentagon unairconditioned dorm, I carried an armload of postal boxes.

You, sir, loudly proclaimed “somebody’s mommy loves them.”

But they were actually full of my dad’s Playboy and Penthouses from the 70s and 80s. Indirectly, mommy’s desire to rid their Mormon house of evil did, in fact, make itself known in my Baton Rouge life.

I should have just thrown them at you. The pages were, how you say, adhered to one another.

  3. Dear Chris Trew,

You don’t know me, but I just wanted to say that Coldtowne is funny shit. I also wanted to say that I totally want to make out with your face. I would tell you in person but that would be, you know, awkward and shit. In any case, you should know that your ridiculous mustache/beard thing really does something for me.

    Out of the sod
    And you’re closer to god

  6. Dear Chris Trew,

Who is this Paul Sontag? I think he is right. Most long-term relationships begin and are successfully maintained via the internets.
